This pair of fauteuils, hand-carved to perfection in the manner of Louis XVI, feature their original painted finish that has achieved a lovely patina and distressing over the decades. Oval seatback is ergonomically contoured, and boasts spiral ribbon framing culminating in a bow tied at the top. The spiral ribbon continues on down the armrests, which are supported with scrolled pediments lavished with acanthus leaf motifs. Tapered and fluted column legs provide support to the shield-shaped seat and framework, which has been finished with woven cane for light weight and sublime comfort.
