This pair of solid bronze candlesticks were cast and hand-chased during the First Empire by talented sculptors, and depict caryatids bearing water, an ancient Greek subject that has inspired sculptors for thousands of years! The detail is remarkable, with the sensuous form of the ladies showing through their flowing robe apparel. Greek and Egyptian runes are engraved into the bases to complete the effect.
