Opulently upholstered in fine velvet, this pair of armchairs, fully upholstered on the armrests, are therefore called bergeres by the French, and are considered their most comfortable. Hand-carved walnut frames styled in the manner of Louis XVI have been painted and the finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades.
