This fantastic commode combines various qualities with utter aplomb! The bombe casework, difficult to execute with such precision, has been lavished with exceptional bas relief carvings in the manner of Louis XIV, made more difficult by the undulations of the facade in each of three dimensions. The exposed cabriole cornerposts add a touch of elegance yet provide a feel of mass not found on many examples. Two massive drawers with hand-dovetailed joints provide copious storage, while the elegant sienna marble top, which has been perfectly contoured and beveled to match the intricate casework below, provides the perfect, carefree surface. The case was crafted from hand-selected clear white oak stock, adding a casual nature to the effect. Note the chamfered solid oak panels even in the back, another indication of the exceptional quality of this keepsake!
