The contributions of the peoples of what is today called Italy are immeasurable, and it is easy to forget that only relatively recently were they even called such a country! The proud city of Florence, from whence hailed such notables as Leonardo di Vinci, existed long before there was a country called Italy, and Florentines to this day refuse to abandon that heritage. This lovely ceramic cache pot, finely hand-painted and glazed, was used to protect fine furniture from the water used to make pretty floral displays in fine homes.
Circa early 1900s.
Meaures 7 x 9 x 7.
