19th Century French Renaissance Desk Armchair was sculpted from select French walnut, and features amazing hand-carved detail from the tip of the armrests with sculpted lions' heads to the carved ball feet at the end of the finely turned and carved legs.  Overly generous seat size, higher than typical chairs from this era, indicates the chair was custom-ordered for a taller-than-average person of the time, making it ideal for today's 21st century physiques.  Wraparound padded seatback is at lumbar height, designed low since executives using the chair would always sit with an upright posture, and the low back also made it easy to pivot in the chair to reach things on the credenza behind the desk.  Even the seatback supports are luxuriously carved with shell and foliate motifs sculpted on scrolled forms, complementing the apron across the front.  Upholstered in luxurious burgundy mohair affixed with finely detailed brass tacks for decades of enjoyment!
