Pair 19th Century French Louis XVI Walnut Armchairs ~ Fauteuils are representative of the finest traditions of premium furniture craftsmanship produced during the waning years of the 1800s.  This pair feature generous seats and oval, contoured seatbacks for amazing comfort, upholstered in a damascene mohair.  The frames are sculpted from fine French walnut, and feature carved embellisments including beaded molding, stylized Greek wave, fluting, and boldly scrolled cabriole legs carved with laurel garlands and scrollwork above and below.  The flutes in the frame and legs are highlighted with gold-painted reeding, with subtle gold accents adorning other carved motifs for a sublimely elegant effect.
