Pair Antique French Louis XIV Armchairs ~ Fauteuils will make a handsome addition to any room!  Boldly hand-carved from solid old-growth oak, each features a triple-arched crown atop the seat back carved with a stylized shell presiding over elaborate foliates on a cross-hatched background.  The urn-shaped open back splat boasts finely carved molded detail, leading the eye to the gracefully contoured armrests and armrest supports, all carved with acanthus leaf detail.  The scrolled apron features complementary foliate carvings, and is connected to the four scrolled legs, each with an acanthus flourish at the bottom just above the cloven hoof feet, and which are connected with a scrolled "X" stretcher.  Damascene fabric is high-quality and in ver serviceable condition.
