Pair Antique French Louis XVI Painted Bergeres ~ Armchairs represent the epitome of understated elegance and an excellent expression of the neoclassical style that has captivated the world since the days of ancient Greece and Rome!  Utilizing fine fruitwood which has been given an extremely subtle white wash over the natural color of the wood, the combination creates a light and airy visual effect.  The frames were sculpted with broad, square seat backs sloping down to padded armrests tipped with scrolls.  The armrest supports are also scrolled and carved with acanthus plumes, leading the eye down to the plinths with acanthus rosettes on all sides and all legs, which in turn connect to the elegant tapered, fluted and reeded legs.  The upholstery is of high quality but shows signs of age and should be replaced with your coordinating fabric.
Circa early 1900s
