19th Century French Renaissance Hall Bench is a stunning work of art, rendered antique furniture by the sculptor from solid old growth white oak to last for centuries!  An impressive norseman's head appears in full relief centered on the seatback, surrounded and supported by exquisite renderings of floral and foliates that cascade down to the bold uprights of the cornerposts, each adorned with acanthus plumes and oak leaf overlay.  Between the seatback posts appears an oval framed artwork of angels and cherubs attending a chariot.  The armrests are magnificent works of art depicting dolphins with heads of lions.  The seat between the armrests opens to reveal trunk storage.  Below, carved on all three sides with magnificent relief work is the main trunk itself, centered with an heraldic crest indicating this work was in all likelihood commissioned by a family to serve as the centerpiece in their entryway foyer.
