19th Century Country French Stripped Oak Bonnetiere represents the epitome of rural craftsmanship, with extraordinary artistry represented in the exquisite sculptural adornment, all rendered from solid indigenous white oak.  An elaborate shell motif is centered on the crown, with a subtle fleur de lys embedded in the motif, flanked by sprays of flowers and foliates.  Below on the bonnet appears cross hatching and more foliate flourishes with flowers.  Below the crown appears the magnificent door, which features a complex arched top, and a scrolled mid-section, both of which are lavished with foliate carvings embracing the chamfered panel within the framework.  The apron underneath the door cannot be ignored, with an undulating scrollwork, cross hatching and shell, floral and foliate motifs ~ all flanked by exquisitely carved legs tipped with escargot feet.  The door opens wide thanks to steel barrel hinges revealing four adjustable shelves for a total of five surfaces making this selection just as functional as it is beautiful to behold!
