19th Century Country French Vitrine from Normandie is an exceptional example of the genre!  Lovingly hand-crafted from old growth oak, it features the timeless chapeau de gendarme cornice atop a crown centered with a basket of flowers in glorious full relief.  The basket is flanked by carvings of dogwood branches in bloom, a motif repeated on the top of the door immediately underneath.  With bellflowers and floral sprays on the cornerposts acting as framework the door is also carved with laurel bundle motif all around the three sides, with the original hand-rolled glass on the upper two-thirds of the door separated from the contoured lower panel by a stunning rosette flanked by more dogwood.  Below the door appear two more works of the cabinetmaker's art ~ the drawer fitted with two brass pulls and carved with a sunflower and more dogwood branches, and the boldly contoured apron carved with complementary dogwood and stylized acanthus plume motifs, finally flanked with subtly scrolled and carved legs tipped with escargot feet.  Two fully adjustable shelves on the inside make for the perfect setting for displaying your family treasures and heirlooms.
