19th Century Rustic Dutch Bonnetiere ~ Cabinet is a charming example of the breed with all the typical attributes that endear such pieces to families for generations!  Hand-crafted from thick planks of old-growth oak, it features a tailored crown and a chamfered door panel surrounded by simple molding in a frame that is joined with pegged mortise & tenons which are used elsewhere in the piece to create sturdiness and longevity.  Outboard steel hinges allow the door to open 180 degrees, revealing a capacious interior with four surfaces inside.  A trademark of the region is the extended feet that are shaped like corbels which provide extra stability even when the somewhat heavy door is open.  Note the use of a single plank of wood for the chamfered panel which is evident from the shot taken with the door open, which also reveals the old hand-made lockwork.
