19th Century French Louis XVI Neoclassical Walnut Bookcase ~ Linen Press represents a masterwork of the cabinetmaker's art!  Created from select French walnut, it boasts a stunning classical architecture that includes a stepped, centered drown defined by bold molding including dentil trim.  The same form is carried out on the singular glazed center door of the upper tier, defined by abundant mullions and overlaid with ribbon, garland and urn carvings.  The original hand-rolled glass only adds to the romantic allure.  Tailored panels flank the glazed door, with mitered corners topped with Corinthian capitals.  On the tailored panel sides appears a surprise~ each side is a door that opens up to multiple shelves of storage flanking the glazed center section, accessed only from those side doors.  The top tier transitions to the lower tier with a ogee contoured flair, with acanthus leaf corbels adorning the mitered corners, then transitioning to decorative pilasters on each corner, set at 45 degree angles just like above, and carved with tapered, fluted and reeded pilaster motifs accented with plain rosettes and shell carvings.  The corners flank the bottom casework which consists of eight separate drawers ideal for small item storage, flatware and the like.  Each drawer is accessed with cast bronze bale pulls in a laurel wreath motif.  The center cabinet door, however, steals the show with fine molded detail surrounding a magnificent full relief rendition of floral garlands, sprays and an inverted bouquet all held together with flowing ribbon and bow.  Greek wave in bas relief appears just below the cabinet door, with contoured legs set at 45 degrees providing support.
