19th Century French Renaissance Grand Bookcase is a study in classical architecture rendered on a larger-than-life scale for a prominent French merchant.  The boldly arched crown is centered by an equally bold heraldic crest with descending foliates and shell motifs, which lead the eye across the finely carved molding to the large urn finials atop each cornerpost.  Tapered and fluted columns underneath frame the finely carved outer doors and the two glazed inner doors on the upper tier.  A carved pediment separates the top from the bottom, fitted with boldly molded cabinets adorned with diamond and roundels lavished with acanthus leaf designs.  Step-front design and impressive grandeur creates mesmerizing visual appeal from any vantage point in the room!
