19th Century Grand Liegoise Louis XIV Bookcase was fashioned from dense, old-growth oak by the master cabinetmakers of the storied region of Liege.  The architecture features a step-front center section which also houses the two full length doors glazed on the top two-thirds with sixteen panes, the top and bottom of which follow the contours of the arched geometry of the piece.  Above presides the crown lavished with a solid oak sculpture of a stylized shell flanked by foliate sprays in vivid detail, set upon the double arches of the crown.  The side cabinets emanate from the main center cabinet in a more traditional rectilinear form, with concave corners flanking the center projection, and rounded convex corners on each end, all lavished with foliate bas relief carvings.  Shell motifs also appear in various guises, accentuated by the tailored, precise molding details.  All four doors open wide thanks to outboard-mounted brass hinges which complement the brass key guards.  Adjustable shelves allow you to alter the interior to accommodate anything you wish to display, or conceal behind the solid panels.  Perfect for housing your collection, memorabilia or family treasures!
