19th Century Renaissance Stripped Oak Hunt Bookcase represents the essence of the genre!  Hand-sculpted from dense, old-growth quarter-sawn oak to last for centuries, it features a boldly arched crown centered with an heraldic crest above, supported by barley twist columns, one clockwise and the other counter-clockwise, which lead the eye past the large glazed upper tier to the cabinetry below.  Two exterior drawers separate the cabinet below from the display tier above, each carved to perfection, with an additional two drawers on the rounded sides left and right, that pivot out for access.  The lower cabinet, however, steals the show with a hunt scene in glorious full relief on the center door, flanked by full relief carvings on the curved side doors depicting the grape and wheat harvest, which not only represent the harvest, but bread & wine, and therefore the Last Supper.  An exceptional example of mid-19th century master craftsmanship and artistic sculpture!
