19th Century Rustic Country French Open Bookcase in Stripped Pine is a remarkably well-preserved piece, having been crafted from old-growth yellow pine which was considered the best of the conifers for furniture making. Neoclassically inspired architecture includes a multi-tiered crown with upper projection contrasting with the two tiered bull nose edge design of the base board below, which is supported by large bun feet. In between, two full width shelves are fully adjustable thanks to the ingenious notch brackets in each interior corner and the trapezoidal shape of the shelf supports. The open design also allows one to use the lower floor as a shelf, providing three tiers. The back is as solid as they come, with plank framework secured to the solid chamfered panels with pegged mortise & tenon joinery, a sure sign of quality craftsmanship. Perfect for housing books, a special collection, or used in any storage capacity! The stripped finish has preserved the natural patina and beautiful grain of the old-growth wood, ideal for compatibility with any casual or rustic decor.
