Pair Antique Delft Lidded Urns by Boch of Holland is a splendid example of fine ceramic porcelains from the region that encompassed northern France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and Holland.  The storied company was founded by Francois Boch in 1748 and evolved through many permutations over the decades, witnessing the revolution in Belgium, the rise and fall of monarchs, and two world wars.  Changing its factory locations over the years in the aforementioned countries, its quality and desirability was maintained making it so collectible today.  This pattern, created for the Royal Sphinx in The Netherlands has all the intricacies of transferware, but was hand-painted in rich cobalt blue, and features a classic traditional pattern including a variety of flowers, backgrounds and bordering.  An elegant variety of flowers surrounded by intricate bordering creates a beautiful Old World look.
Circa early 1900s
