Antique Pink & White 65 pc. China Set by Maastricht ~ Victoria Pattern
19th Century Transferware Set dates to 1859 -1890 and features decorative shapes and retains its fine coloration. This particular pattern is called "Victoria". Surrounded by gorgeous floral borders, the design features a garden urn filled with flowers and two magical birds on each side. It is rare to find a set of transferware this old in such good condition! An extremely fine set to add to your collection of antique china, it represents a true luxury for the discriminating collector of fine quality Maastricht porcelain.
In 1851 Winand Nicolaas Clermont and Charles Chainaye founded a pottery in the Maastricht neighbourhood Wijck. Their company was taken over in 1859 by the Belgian engineer Guillaume Lambert and 1863 renamed to Société Céramique. The company became a principal competitor of Petrus Regout's firm, which was renamed Sphinx in 1899. Both Sphinx and Société Céramique produced mainly earthenware.
