19th Century French 2nd Empire Period Marble Top Console was meticulously hand-crafted by top artisans during the Golden Age of furniture crafting beginning during the reign of Napoleon III and ending in the Belle Epoque.  Subtle use of gilded bronze ormolu decoration atop the natural beauty of the sumptuous imported mahogany combine with the classical architecture to create a stately, yet understated elegance.  The original silver appears in the reflecting mirror below, used by ladies to check their apparel, while the top was fitted with Carrara marble for a light and carefree opulence.
