19th Century French Louis XVI Demilune Giltwood Marble Top Console makes a great choice for a diminutive space, cozy niche or small foyer wall section.  Designers like them for stairwell landings, as well.  Meticulously hand-carved by an obvious master at his trade, it features exquisite Greek coin motif expressed in finely detailed rosettes, and bordered on the top with egg & dart, and the bottom with spiral ribbon ~ and that's just the apron!  Centered on the half-moon form is an unusually artistic rendition of a rosette in rectangular form, serving as the sold plinth block under which is attached the single leg.  The leg is a work of art unto itself, with floral, ribbon rosette and acanthus leaf carvings, with a lotus blossom serving as the foot, all with a gold finish that has achieved an incredibly beautiful patina over the decades.  Exquisitely veined Sienna marble was chosen for the top, then beveled and contoured to follow the shape of the apron.
