19th Century French Louis XVI Painted Demilune Marble Top Console exhibits extraordinary artistry in the sculpture of the framework, replete with intricate egg & dart appearing under the luxuriously veined demilune beveled marble top, leading to the Greek coin variation with florettes accentuated by the floral rosettes at the top of the gracefully scrolled legs.  The legs themselves are carved on three sides with floral rosettes, acanthus plumes, and quatrefoil overlay leading down to the upturned acanthus leaf whereupon the bowed stretcher takes over the show with beaded trim leading the eye to the colid carved urn finial with lotus blossom and pineapple motifs.  An amazing testament to talented artisanry and sculpture in wood, it features its original patinaed painted finish for a lovely soft glow.
