19th Century French Louis Philippe Burl Walnut Secretary ~ Commode represents the understated elegance of the period that has made such pieces continuously popular since the middle of the 1800s!  Without using carved detail or bronze adornment, the style instead relies on the sheer natural beauty of the wood, in this case burl that has been bookmatched to create the intriguing and eye-catching grain patterns you see on the front facade.  The typical serpentine top tier in this example is a more classical interpretation, with crown molding encircling the spacious top and overlooking the full width upper drawer which blends with the crown to create a bonnet effect.  The top drawer opens to reveal a secretary that pulls out providing faux leather writing surface, four interior small drawers, a cubby hole, and 33" height making it perfect for 21st century physiques.  Three full width drawers below are surrounded by a finely molded framework, and open to reveal cavernous storage.  The tailored base and feet below complete the refined manner of the genre.  Newly and professionally installed faux leather writing surface!
