19th Century French Regence Secretary ~ Bookcase is a study in master craftsmanship!  Created from solid oak, it features a boldly arched crown centered with a stylized foliate wreath, with bas relief designs cascading across the contours of the crown down to the rounded corner posts.  Glass appears not only on the upper arched door panels, but on the stile between with delicate carved overlay, and even on the sides, providing ambient light into the upper tier without the need for artificial lighting.  The finely carved slant front desk opens to reveal a spacious work surface and cubby holes and drawers.  Two full width drawers below with subtle arbalette contours are well carved with brass pulls and keyhole guards, with a lavishly embellished and contoured apron below that supported by graceful hand-carved cabriole legs.
