19th Century French Renaissance Double-Faced Desk in Walnut is a very rare example of exquisite French sculpture rendered in sumptuous French walnut!  Carved on all sides, the front of the desk appears to be the same as the back side, yet the drawer facades and cabinet fronts are carved to match the "business" side of the desk, allowing one to place the gem in the middle of the room if so desired!  Spacious drawers and cabinets make it very functional.  Carved details include lions' heads in full relief, with elaborate foliate scrollwork on the facades, and intricate hand-carved molding around the top, separating the drawer tier from the cabinets and along the baseboard, the latter of which emphasizes the shell motif.  The finishing touch iare the eight barley twist columns placed on each corner.
