Antique Italian Walnut Secretary with Marquetry was crafted by masters in the furniture making art!  The casework was first created from fine Italian walnut, and features a contoured and scrolled slant-front top with four scrolled legs and matching contoured and carved apron.  The cornerposts have been rounded and carved with floral sprays, as well.  The remainder of the decoration of this marvelous piece was performed in marquetry, the artistic inlay technique that creates art using various species and finishes of wood to create a design or picture.  In this case, elaborate foliate bordering dominates the panels, with a white wood used to create floral accents.  The same white wood and satinwood was employed to adorn the interior on the writing surface and on the two interior drawer facades.  The interior of the drawers is lined in felt as a nice touch.  The three spacious exterior drawers have been lavished with marquetry, and are fitted with brass knobs.  This is the perfect choice for cozy niches or efficient floor plans.  When closed, it only stands out from the wall a bit over 20 inches, yet when the slant front is lowered on to the pull-out supports, a spacious desk surface is realized, more than enough for laptops or tablets, with interior shelves and the aforementioned interior drawers only adding to the functionality!
