Antique Liegoise Louis XIV Dining Table with 2 Leaves is a splendid example of the master craftsmanship for which the storied region is known for the past several centuries!  Using indigenous oak, the artisans were inspired by the Louis XIV style, and crafted a diamond parquet top with naturalistic contours all around overlooking the four aprons which are each carved to perfection with shell, acanthus flourishes and cross-hatching.  The aprons join on each corner to massive cabriole legs sculpted from single timbers of oak, and lavished with shell and scrollwork on the shoulder, with lions' paw feet at the base.  Two supports on each end pull out to cradle the leaves which can be stored separately when not needed.
Circa early 1900s
