19th Century French Louis XV Serpentine Walnut Marble Top Buffet is a stunning testament to the cabinetmaker's art!  Rendered from sumptuous French walnut, considered the premier indigenous European furniture wood, it features a complex architecture with serpentine sides and a step-front center section.  Scrolled legs carved with acanthus plumes and escargots provide support to the undulating contours of the apron, which is carved with floral and foliate motifs in three places.  Above the apron appears the four doors of the cabinetry, with the two center doors stepped out a couple of inches to create an interesting visual appeal from all angles, especially in combination with the serpentine sides.  All four cabinet doors are hung with brass hinges and fitted with bronze key guards, and are carved with elegant shell and foliate motifs in a framework design.  Even the cornerposts, of which there are four in the design, are rounded and carved with matching foliates providing a framework for the doors.  Above each door appears a drawer carved with motifs matching the cornerposts, and fitted with luxuriously cast bronze pulls.  To top it all off, an exquisitely veined marble slab has been contoured and beveled to follow the intricate contours of the casework below.  Amazing storage, display and style, all with a French flair that cannot be denied!
