Set of 6 Antique French Louis XV Walnut Dining Chairs with Silk Damask were sculpted from select French walnut with the naturalistic form that is a hallmark of the style.  Hourglass shaped seatbacks feature elegant molded detail all around, with acanthus fronds gracing the shoulders leading the eye to the arbalette crown centered with shell and acanthus foliate motifs. The generous seats are supported by a framework carved with complementary motifs on the four subtly scrolled cabriole legs which are also tipped with escargot carvings, and connected with double lyre stretchers centered with an inset rosette.  Silk damask upholstery is in very good condition, and has been installed relatively recently prior to our acquisition.
