19th Century French Louis XV Carved Wall Mirror features elaborate naturalistic foliate carvings that are pierced through the frame, rendering this more of a sculpture than wood-carved art!  The foliate design is inspired by the acanthus leaf, whose form has been revered for millennia, starting with the ancient Greeks.  A beveled surround separates the outer piece-carved framework with the inner solid-carved section, with yet another beveled surround around the mirror.  Highlighted very subtly in gold, it is a beautiful testament to the craftsmen of old!

With a full frame all around, it can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
