Antique Framed Oil Painting on Board by Jean Charles Millet (1892-1944) is a classic wintry scene depicting a quaint village during the mid-19th century.  Millet has used an interesting combination of directional brush strokes to create visual interest and texture, and successfully explored a broad spectrum of gray tones which are further enhanced by the silvered frame originally chosen for the work.
Jean Charles Millet (1892 - 1944), grandson of one of the founders of the Barbizon school Jean Francois Millet (1814-1875).  Jean Charles was active in several regions of France during his career.  He is known for continuing the family tradition in the Barbizon style.  Born in Paris, his career was cut short by World War II, and he died in the concentration camp of Dachau.
