Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Georges Bernier (1862-1918) is a panoramic work on an unusually wide format for its time.  Bernier was known for his landscapes and village scenes, here showing his talents in the former discipline.  A typical northwestern Europe cloud-filled sky provides diffuse illumination of the pastoral scene below, where a small herd of cattle are peacefully grazing and drinking from a canal most probably dug for just that purpose.  Bernier has shown particularly healthy animals and lush pasture, a very common scene in the region known for its thriving dairy industry.  Beautifully framed in tastefully accented gold.
