Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by H. Matthys is a wonderful, inviting landscape depicting a late summer/early fall in Holland.  The waterway was created to build up the road bed, creating a scene ubiquitous in the "Low Countries".  In this work, the artist has created an inviting perspective, with a dominating forest on the left, and open sky appearing above the lower vegetation on the right.  A lone person on the roadway has paused while something piqued his curiosity, providing a touch of human interest.  A wonderful use of color and technique, inspired by post impressionistic style.
