Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by L. Reymen dated 1946 is a splendid example of the resurgence of art after the conclusion of World War II.  Here Reyman has used a gray-toned palette to create a representation of a quiet little village by the water at dusk.  Such hamlets were untouched by the devastation of the conflict, and remained as inspiration for all to return to times of peace.  A hint of fall colors are subtly rendered in the landscape, which survives in its original frame.
