Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Nelly Windels is a superb post-impressionist work depicting a charming homestead nestled in the country at the onset of Spring.  Here Windels has chosen to use the homestead as the backdrop with a burgeoning tree creating an angular and stark focal point in the foreground.  Note the subtle interpretation of reflection in the water and the pastel, glowing effect of the sky.  Survives in its original frame and mat.
Nelly Windels was born in Zwevegem in 1922 and died in 2007.  She was a well-known painter of landscapes and cityscapes. Her father Georges was a member of the management team of the company De Coene in Kortrijk, famous for what was considered modern furnishing designs during the middle of the century. She studied in Kortrijk at the Academy of Art, Ghent and Antwerp at the Institute of Fine Arts and received important awards during her lifetime.
