Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Raymond Verstraeten (1874-1947) is entitled "Colorful Garden Wall" and depicts precisely that!  Using bold brush strokes in an impressionist manner, Verstraeten employed a  variety of colors, concentrating on a lavender for the hydrangeas depicted in the scene.  The composition is perfectly confined to a specific corner of the wall juxtaposed with a background of another structure enveloped in lush greenery.  Survives in its original frame with museum label.
Raymond Verstraeten was the brother of Gustave Verstraeten and father of the painters André and Jules-Émile. He attended the Academie voor Beeldende Kunst in Zottengem, and later taught at the same academy.
