Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Roelof Dozeman (1924-) is a splendid work depicting the demanding aspects of farming during the 18th and 19th centuries, yet set upon an exquisite landscape background to provide perspective.  Choosing a particularly detailed frame for his work, Dozeman relied primarily on a gray palette accented with lush yet subtle greens to portray a cloudy day with the portent of rain, the farmer's friend.
Roelef Dozeman was born in Assen, Holland, in 1924.  He worked in various locations including Paris, Rotterdam and The Hague, and at last reporting was living in Spain.  His training was only in watercolors, otherwise he is a self-taught artist, known for his landscapes and depictions of animals.  His work has been exhibited in Madrid, Paris, Frankfurt and Venlo.
