This amazing pair of paintings depict various activities of a seaside community in what appears to be a section of the Brittany coast.  The artist, although remaining anonymous, has rendered a spectacular seascape with the juxtaposition of human interest in the characters in the foreground.  Fishermen appear in the mid-background for added visual interest.  One can envision several reasons for the small congregation at the shoreline, which makes the works all the more intriguing.  Each survives in its original finely detailed frame.
