Pair Antique French Neoclassically Framed Botanical Lithographs by J.W. Penfold

This beautiful pair of antique French neoclassical framed botanical lithographs were hand-colored and mounted in oval frames with original gilt finish that exhibit classic French Louis XVI styling, with an elegantly displayed bow of ribbon at the top.  The botanical studies include one of the Ethiopian Richardia, and the other related species Ethiopian Lily, both beautifully hand-painted with coloration that is remarkably well preserved, thanks in part to the glassed-in framework and recently backed rear of the frames which affords wonderful protection.  The gold finish has achieved a lovely patina on the framework which is styled with flowing ribbon and a bow at the top of an oval banded wheat framework plus an interior beaded trim immediately adjacent to the artworks.
