Pair Framed Gouache Paintings by Jef Clerens (1875-?) represent charming depictions of quaint Flemish towns with cobblestone streets an architecture typical to the region.  The artist has designed both compositions to lead the viewer into the scene via the aforementioned street, to experience the quaint buildings all nestled together yet exhibiting unique characteristics that so endear such villages to us.  Muted earth tones and diffuse lighting add nice characteristics to the work, and each survives in its original frame.
