Vintage Framed Oil Painting on Canvas is a wonderful representation of the start of another day at sea for the fishing fleet of a small European village. Here the artist has used impressionistic techniques and a broad spectrum of gray tones to project early morning light in a monochromatic way. The still harbor waters reflect the same coloration of the sky, with the fishermen preparing their vessels in the early morning hours. Such scenes have been repeated daily for centuries. Signed at the bottom right; survives in its original frame with recently applied tape backing.
