Vintage Framed Oil Painting on Canvas by Lucien Hock (1899-1972) in Square Format is an intriguing early winter scene with a recent first snowfall evident across patches on the ground.  The silent conifers stand defiant to the weather, and the rolling meadows that lead the eye to the distant misty hills have already turned color.  A small babbling brook leads the eye into the scene.  Gray foreboding clouds above portend the cold weather yet to come.  Survives in its original painted frame.
Lucien Hock (1899 -1972) was active in Belgium, especially around the eastern portion of the country in the regions around Liege, which is known for its incredible pastoral beauty.  Beginning in 1912 Hock studied at the School of Armoury learning the metal engraving trade on weapons.  From 1917 through 1919 he trained with A. de Witte at The Academy of Fine Arts in Liege.  The Liege region is world renowned for excellence in manufacturing of all kinds and artistry spanning the spectrum of all media and to this day remains a source of superior quality products and artistry across a wide variety of desirable works.
