19th Century French Charles X Mahogany Sofa ~ Meridienne represents the epitome of understated elegance!  The graceful asymmetrical form of the seat back is a stylistic bridge between a regular sofa and a chaise lounge.  The armrests are a prominent design feature, with the preponderance of carved detail and positioning at the forefront of the design.  Stylized acanthus fronds and scrolls make up the design elements, leading the eye down to the wraparound apron which is supported by tapered and raised flutes on the stout legs topped with Ionic capitals.  The entire framework exudes luxury having been crafted from exotic imported mahogany.  The pastel cornflower blue mohair upholstery with a grayish tint has seen better days, but is still serviceable until you decide to replace with your coordinating fabric, and is even installed on the back side making this piece an excellent choice for placement in the center of the room.
