19th Century French Louis XV Painted & Gilded Trumeau Mirror is a magnificent example of the refined expression of the Louis XV style, influenced heavily by the Rococo movement which combined specific classical elements with an envelope of Baroque flair.  A step-front design which adds three dimensional intrigue from any angle, it features a panel above the original beveled mirror.  The panel is defined by finely detailed molding with acanthus flourishes.  A shell dominates the adornment surrounding the mirror, with cascading floral and flourishes directly underneath at the peak of the arch, leading the eye to the top shoulders of the mirror enhanced with bold upturned acanthus fronds.  The combination of the patinaed pastel green painted finish with gold  highlighting on the molding and carved details provides elegance that cannot be denied!
