Pair Grand Antique Chinese Export Vases

Pair Grand Antique Chinese Export Vases were produced for the lucrative trade in Europe and the Americas, and feature a courtyard scene before a monarch with festive dancing, appearing in very slightly different iterations on the front and back of both vases.  Above on the neck appears two men engaged in a military discussion, with elaborate foliate and floral paintings filling the spaces between the scenes.  Even the insides of the rims have felt the artist's brush, with jade, rose and cobalt colors predominating the work.
