19th Century French Louis Philippe Rosewood Twin Bed ~ Day Bed is truly a rare find!  Perfect for use as a wall beds or day bed, it features the classic tailored lines of the genre, with subtly arched headboard and footboard.  The headboard is crowned with a stunning hand-carved heraldic crest flanked by cascading foliates.  Bold turned finials appear on each of the four cornerposts, with a high, boldly molded rail on one side fitted with foliate scrolled corbels connecting to the head and footboards on each end.  (the opposite rail is unadorned, meant for placement alongside the wall).  Rosewood is also called kingwood, and was considered the finest furniture wood in the history of furniture craft, and being imported at great expense from the fast rain forests of the Americas, was therefore much more expensive than any other possible woods.  The result was that only the finest and most prosperous furniture makers could afford the exotic imported material.  Ultimately this ensures that your rosewood beds will last for generation after generation, and look just as beautiful in the 22nd century as they do now!
