19th Century French Louis XV Walnut QUEEN Bed is a marvel of the furniture maker's art!  Sculpted from sumptuous French walnut, it was designed in a definitive expression of the Rococo style that so enamored the king.  Characterized by stylized shell and foliate motifs on a naturalistic, asymmetrical theme, it is lavished with sculpted detail from the tip of the headboard crown to the base of the foot board apron.  The headboard crown is centered with a pair of lovebirds framed by a scallop shell surround with lavish floral and foliate motifs emanating outwards towards the shoulders, which are adorned with their own intricate scrolled motif.  Fine bordering and molded details continue down to the side rails, which are also carved with expressions of the celebration of nature, a theme which is duplicated on a slightly smaller scale across the bottom of the foot board, with all supported by scrolled legs carved with acanthus fronds and escargots.  The footboard which is most prominent in the room, received the most attention, with a stunning crest, elaborate molding trim and a centerpiece that is an expression of the Rococo style itself, all rendered in full and bas relief in the rich, sumptuous walnut.  Rails have been painstakingly extended to accommodate a modern Queen size foundation and mattress.
