Grand Luxe Antique Photo Shoot in Dallas

Antique Letter EngravingA few weeks ago I was involved in an exhilarating photo shoot at our antique showroom in the Dallas Design District for Grand Luxe Magazine.  Now the issue is out, so I can show you the amazing results of this project that stretched over three weeks…

I admit that I was nervous when Carolyn Tillery and Tim Miller (editor and president of Grand Luxe Magazine, respectively) first told me about this project.  The seven most stylish ladies in Dallas would be coming to our antique showroom on the corner of Dragon and Oak Lawn to take part in this high fashion layout for the September issue.  My trepidation was unnecessary, as the experience was both amazing and unforgettable!

Inessa Stewart's Antiques and Grand Luxe MagazineOur whole staff dove headfirst into the project; we could not contain our collective excitement.  Everyone worked so hard to set up seven different vignettes filled with antique furniture, accessories, lighting and art ~ each creating the perfect setting for the individual honoree’s gown selection.  It was truly a joy to work with such a talented team that was assembled by the Grand Luxe staff, which reminded me about my own modeling days and long hours in front of the camera.

The Dallas Stylish Seven are truly beautiful inside and out.  These inspiring ladies tirelessly give time, effort and much more to many wonderful Dallas area charities.  What’s more impressive is that they make their philanthropy look so easy and stylish!  Their commitment to the community was the major focus of this elegant photo shoot, and we applaud the beauty of their generous spirit!

I also want to say thanks to our amazing showroom team at our Dragon Street showroom that spent days in preparation, sharing their ideas and creative styling to help make this all possible.  Of course, none of it would have been possible without the wonderful professionals that were such a pleasure to work with:

Wade Livingston, photographer extraordinaire, for his stunning photos and studious attention to every detail.

Kim Rozell, professional make-up artist, who made all the ladies’ makeup and hair look so flawless and glamorous.

Jordan Grimminger, floral artist at Cebolla Fine Flowers for working so close with us to create breathtaking floral displays, beautifully coordinating them with each and every vignette.

Feizy Rugs for loaning us exquisite one-of-a-kind rug masterpieces that added so much to each our settings.

This project was a creative collaboration of all these remarkable professionals, and it was my pleasure to style and coordinate such an exciting venture.

Antique Inspirations~ Quick Floral Designs

Antique Letter EngravingSince I have worked in the antique and design business for over 20 years, I know the importance of staying inspired.  Even when you are surrounded by beautiful antique furniture and art it is possible to lose the spark of motivation.  It is therefore important to see the artistry in even the simplest things and to start each week with new ideas ~ all to foster and maintain one’s eloquence in design.  No matter now great or subtle the inspiration, one cannot overstate its continuous impact.

Antiques and floral display

This week my inspiration came in the box of roses my sweet mother sent us for our wedding anniversary (this year we celebrated our 26th).  A dozen long stemmed roses in mixed colors arrived, giving me an idea for two quick and simple floral designs.

Antiques and roses: Before First, I picked some greenery fillers from my garden to add texture.  Using my grandmother’s two hand-cut crystal vases; I separated the roses into two color schemes.  When the stems are cut short and the roses packed tightly, the arrangement will last a lot longer.  Such arrangements are also easy to place just about anywhere in your home.  One arrangement looked great in our living room and the other in the bedroom.

Antiques and rosesAntiques and roses Seeing the roses in small antique family heirloom vases inspires me even today, and reminds me of all the times I saw each vase on my grandmother’s table as she lovingly arranged fresh flowers in them to celebrate special days.

Antiques in Style ~ A Renaissance in Fashion

Antique Letter EngravingSeptember is here, and fall is fast approaching while the end of the summer hangs heavy in the air.  Early autumn in the South is almost like an extension of the balmy summers, but we can look forward to the promise of cooler evenings and crisp mornings ahead.  We also begin to think about family gatherings, holidays and fall decorating.

I started our fall season with my Antiques in Style column ~ which appears in Grand Luxe Magazine ~ about Renaissance inspirations in fashion.  The article is based on my blog about the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show in which we participated earlier this year.  Countless artists and designers have embraced Renaissance inspirations over the centuries, and today we look to all antique styles as creative key elements in our fashions and interiors.  My column will often reflect the theme of the magazine, such as this month’s issue, in which fashion was the focus.  The exciting fall introductions from the always-incredible Dolce and Gabbana collection came to mind.  I truly appreciate the photos that D&G provided to us to feature in this article.

The September issue of Grand Luxe Magazine also focuses on the annual Cattle Baron’s Ball, an amazing charity benefitting The American Cancer Society.  In past years we have worked closely with this remarkable group of philanthropists that generously donate their time to this sublimely worthwhile cause.  This year the Cattle Baron’s Ball is at the iconic South Fork Ranch which is the location of the newly reborn television series, Dallas.  The event will no doubt be amazing and features recording artist Blake Shelton.
