19th Century Italian Neogothic Inlaid Library Table ~ Center Table is an unusual example of fine craftsmanship specifically prepared for an affluent market!  Only aristocratic types could afford the education, books and home with a library, and tables such as this were designed just for that customer base.  Rendered in a stylized version of the ancient Gothic style, it features boldly scrolled feet, diagonal patterns in the four column legs that are topped with doric capitals and then corbels supporting the boldly molded apron under the finely molded top.  Turned finials above and below the stretcher below are a nice touch, as is the subtle highlighting of the carved detail.  The top surface, however, steals the show, with a variety of different hued woods being inlaid together to produce an abstract art work inspired by naturalistic forms, including amazingly intricate bordering and accents.  An excellent choice to provide the finishing touch to that special room!
